STUDY DURATION
Undergraduate students: 4 years in regular, with a maximum of 6 years.
Master's students: 3 years in regular, with a maximum of 4 years.
Doctoral students: 4 years in regular, with a maximum of 6 years.
CREDITS
Undergraduate students: No less than 140 credits before graduation. The specific credit requirements for each major shall be determined by each school based on the specific circumstances of international student study, with reference to the international student training curriculum system, as well as credit and class-hour requirements. Among these, courses such as Chinese, Survey of China, and Xi'an History shall account for at least 30 credits, and university-wide public elective courses shall be at least 12 credits.
Master's students: No less than 24 credits, which includes 20 course credits (which must consist of 7 credits for public compulsory courses, at least 6 credits for major compulsory courses, no less than 2 credits for public elective courses, a minimum of 4 credits for major elective courses, and at least 1 credit for interdisciplinary elective courses) and 4 credits for training components (which must include 1 credit for practical training, 1 credit for literature review and thesis proposal, and 2 credits for academic exchanges).
Doctoral students: No less than 18 credits, which comprises 14 course credits (including 6 credits for public compulsory courses, at least 4 credits for major compulsory courses, no less than 2 credits for public elective courses, and a minimum of 2 credits for major elective courses) and 4 credits for training components (including 1 credit for literature review and thesis proposal, 1 credit for mid-term assessment, and 2 credits for academic exchanges).
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
Undergraduate students: The abstract, table of contents, main body, and acknowledgment of the thesis can be written in English. The cover page, statement of originality, and acknowledgment must be written in Chinese. International undergraduate students who write thesis in English must also submit a detailed Chinese abstract of no less than 2,000 words. Matters related to thesis topic selection, mid-term inspection, academic misconduct detection, thesis review, and defense can be carried out in accordance with the SNNU Undergraduate Graduation Thesis (Design) Management Document.
Master's students: The university encourages international master's students to produce high-level academic achievements, but no unified quantitative requirements are imposed.

International doctoral students in humanities and social sciences must meet the requirement of publishing 2 academic papers in Level H (public) domestic or foreign journals, or 1 academic paper in a journal above Level G (important).
International doctoral students in science and engineering are required to publish 1 academic paper in an SCI-indexed journal, or 2 academic papers in core journals.
CHINESE PROFICIENCY
For Chinese-taught disciplines and majors, international students shall be able to use Chinese to complete the study and research tasks, and possess the ability to engage in work related to their major using Chinese. Upon graduation, HSK5 certificate is required.
For English-taught disciplines and majors, international students shall be able to fluently use English to complete the study and research tasks, and have the ability to work in fields related to their major using English. Upon graduation, HSK3 certificate is required.
